Fund tours, reenactments, and exhibits that interpret the fort and the War of 1812 sieges for new generations.
Move the capital campaign forward toward a new Welcome Center/Living History Center that serves school groups and visitors year round.
We report campaign totals openly so you can see exactly how the effort is going. The progress bar above is updated as gifts come in, and the full picture lives on the capital campaign page.
Ways to give
A gift by card, check, or phone is the simplest path. Several others can stretch your gift further or carry it into the future. Gifts can be made outright or pledged over up to five years.
Give appreciated stock or mutual funds held longer than a year, claim the full-value deduction, and avoid the capital-gains tax you would owe if you sold them.
A qualified charitable distribution from your IRA can be excluded from your taxable income, and at 73 or older it can count toward your required minimum distribution.
Recommend a grant to Old Fort Madison Preservation from your donor-advised fund at any time, in any amount.
Many employers match charitable gifts. A quick check with your HR department can double, or even triple, the value of your gift.
Give in memory or in honor of someone you love. We will track and acknowledge each tribute with care.
Bequests, charitable trusts, and gifts of life insurance let you make a lasting gift while keeping benefits in the meantime. We are glad to walk through the options with you or your advisor.
To arrange any of these, or to request a donation and pledge card, call 319-470-3642 or email info@HistoricOldFortMadison.org. Please consult your own advisor for personal tax and estate-planning guidance.
A one-time donation is one path. If you want a deeper connection to the fort, two more options are worth a look.
Members give every year and get free admission, event invitations, and a steady connection to the work.
Businesses and major donors can fund a building, an exhibit, or an event, with naming opportunities and visible recognition at the fort.
